Dr. Anthony Stratakos is Element Energy’s co-founder and serves as President and CEO. For nearly 30 years, Tony has been a leading entrepreneur and executive in the power electronics industry. In 1996, Tony founded Volterra Semiconductor, which went public in 2004 and was later acquired by Maxim Integrated. Tony served as SVP and CTO at Maxim before he formed Element.

Georgy Zerkalov is a Senior R&D Manager at Element Energy, leading adaptive battery safety algorithm development efforts. Georgy has more than 15 patents and publications in battery research and energy industry. Georgy was a Division I athlete at Stanford, where he played tennis.

SETH KAHN
FOUNDER, COO

Seth Kahn is a co-founder and COO of Element Energy, responsible for engineering, operations and business development. Seth earned a BS in Biomedical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and a MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.  The earlier part of Seth’s career was dedicated to the field of power management, leading Volterra Semiconductor’s global design engineering teams in the development of innovative power conversion chips for the enterprise, communications and mobile markets. In 2013, Seth shifted his focus to the renewable energy sector, serving as Executive Director of Solar Products at Maxim Integrated. In this role, Seth developed extensive technical and market experience in the renewable energy space and built international manufacturing and supply chain partnerships. Seth is excited to continue his work in renewables and ultimately to see Element Energy accelerate the onset of the energy revolution.

ROBERT MCINTYRE
LG Tech Ventures

Mr. McIntyre has over twenty years of experience as an investor, entrepreneur, and advisor with technology start-up companies in Silicon Valley. As an investor, Mr. McIntyre served as a Partner at CMEA Ventures ($1b AUM) and an associate at H.I.G. Capital ($30b AUM) where he led many successful investments including Intermolecular (IPO), Schooner (acquired by Sandisk), Ageia (acquired by Nvidia), Visyx (acquired by Measurement Specialties), Lvl7 Systems (acquired by Broadcom), and Mojo Networks (acquired by Arista Networks). As an entrepreneur, Mr. McIntyre has served as a business development executive at several start-up companies including NextBio (acquired by Illumina), TeselaGen Biotechnology, and AirWave Wireless (acquired by Hewlett-Packard).

Mr. McIntyre holds a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an MBA from the Wharton School, where he was a Palmer Scholar.

Before co-founding Radar Partners, an early stage venture capital partnership, Kevin was a General Partner with Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, one of Silicon Valley’s most successful high technology venture capital firms for almost twenty years. Kevin and his partners invested in many of the most powerful and high profile start-ups over the past 30 years, including Google, Intuit, VeriSign, Genentech, Citrix Systems, Netscape Communications, Amazon.com and Juniper Networks. Kevin has been featured in many technology publications, has been profiled in Fortune, Forbes and Inc. Magazine, and has been ranked as one of the top Venture Capitalists in the world over the last decade. The Forbes “Midas Touch” ranking of top investors has named Kevin as one of the top private investors in the world on numerous occasions ranking him in the top ten three times.

Outside of work Kevin enjoys family time, playing hockey and working with youth sports. His passion for sports extends into the professional sports arena as well. Kevin was the co-owner of the National Hockey League San Jose Sharks, the American Hockey League Worcester Sharks, and Sharks Sports & Entertainment from 2001-2012.

MATT MURPHY
Marvell Technology

Matt Murphy is President and Chief Executive Officer of Marvell. He has led the company since joining in July 2016 and also serves as a member of the company’s Board of Directors. In his role as CEO, Murphy is responsible for leading new technology development, directing ongoing operations and driving Marvell’s growth
strategy.

Prior to joining Marvell, Murphy worked for Maxim Integrated, where he advanced through a series of business leadership roles over two decades. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President of Business Units and Sales and Marketing, overseeing all product development and go-to-market activities. Prior to that, he served as the Senior Vice President of the Communications and Automotive Solutions Group and Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing.

Murphy is a recipient of a Silicon Valley Business Journal 2019 C-Suite award for CEO of a Large Public Company, and was a “40 Under 40” honoree in 2011. In 2018, Institutional Investor named him All-America Executive Team Best CEO in the semiconductor category. He also served as the Chairman of the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) in 2018.

Murphy earned a B.A. from Franklin & Marshall College, and is also a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program. He served on the Board of Directors of eBay Inc. from March 2019 to June 2022 and currently serves on the Boards of Directors of the SIA and Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA).

ANDERSON JOHN
Sr Dir FW & Embedded SW
Anderson is the Sr. Director of Embedded Software Engineering at Element Energy. He leads a team of engineers designing the software which empowers Element Energy’s novel hardware platform. Previously, he worked at Maxim Integrated where he lead firmware development for an advanced battery management platform. Prior to 2015, Anderson’s focus was firmware development for Maxim’s automotive BMS solutions.

Sr Dir Systems Engineering
Dr. Corrado Cammi is responsible for Element Energy’s Systems Engineering and Hardware Development. He previously worked at Volterra Semiconductor and Maxim Integrated were he focused on the product definition and design of High Power/High Current DC-DC converters (for Cloud, Telecom, Industrial and Automotive markets) and the development of Advanced Battery Management Systems for large-scale battery packs.

Dr. Rainer Fasching is an Element Energy co-founder and serves as Chief Scientific Officer. Dr. Fasching is a Consulting Professor at Stanford University, and has served as VP of R&D for two lithium-ion battery companies. He is considered an expert in the field, has extensively published and is a prolific inventor with over fifty patents.
Dr. ARNAUD DEVIE
Sr. Staff Battery Scientist
Dr. Arnaud Devie conducts battery experiments and develops advanced battery algorithms (SOC, SOP, SOS, SOH) for Element Energy. When he’s not working on batteries, Dr. Devie dreams about batteries. He previously worked at Maxim Integrated and for the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute where he conducted lithium-ion battery degradation research under the leadership of Dr. Matthieu Dubarry.

CTO

Dr. Yves Saw serves as Element Energy’s CTO, with responsibility for software and systems, and as President of Element Energy Korea. He brings thirty years of R&D experience in software, artificial neural networks and battery energy storage systems.  Prior to joining Element, Dr. Saw served as Vice President of BMS and System Engineering at LG Chem, the world’s largest battery manufacturer for automotive and ESS.  Dr. Saw served as Vice President of LG Electronics in mobile software R&D before LG Chem.

Dr. Chandan Gope is the Sr. Director, AI&ML at Element Energy, leading a team of engineers and scientists developing next gen AI algorithms for battery safety. Previously, he was the Director, AI&ML at Nortek Control, where he built AI-powered products for Automotive and Home Security markets. He has published over a dozen journal articles and conference papers, authored 5 patents, and has been an IEEE Senior Member since 2010.

Rama is a strategic IT leader with over 25 years of software industry experience and deep skills in cloud, ML and Big Data technologies. At Element Energy, Rama is leading the implementation of the cloud platform to enable ML from large-scale battery data. Prior to joining Element Energy, Rama held technical and leadership positions at Accenture, IBM, Velos, Symantec, and Ariba.

Chief Legal Officer
David Oh serves as Element Energy’s Chief Legal and Administrative Officer. David has worked as a corporate lawyer in Silicon Valley for nearly 25 years, starting his career as an attorney at Cooley LLP. David has served in legal executive roles at Volterra Semiconductor, prior to its acquisition by Maxim Integrated, and at Roku and Alector, handling their initial public offerings and numerous pre-IPO and public company responsibilities.

VP Operations
Rob serves as Vice President of Operations responsible for Manufacturing Operations and Supply Chain Management. Rob earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute and has more than 25 years’ experience leading Semiconductor Test and Operations teams across the US, Europe, and Asia. Prior to joining Element Energy, Rob served as Executive Director of Test Systems Development at Maxim Integrated Products and as Director of Test Engineering at Volterra.

Dr. Jaecheol Lee is the Sr. Director SW Engineering at Element Energy Korea, leading development of Firmware & Application SW for customer and operations in the Korea office. Previously, he was the leader of ESS SW algorithms and FMEA of facilitation of battery system at LG Chemical, after mobile-phone SW development & technical marketing experience in LG Electronics.

Sergej Mahnovski
Sergej Mahnovski

Edison International

Sergej Mahnovski is Managing Director of strategy, technology, and innovation at Edison International (EIX). He leads Edison’s corporate ventures and strategic planning teams, and is focused on identifying disruptive technologies and business models to achieve carbon neutrality in California through clean energy, electrification, and reimagining the grid. 

Sergej previously served as the Director of the Utility of the Future team at Consolidated Edison. He also served as the Director of the Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability and head of energy policy for NYC Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, where his team was responsible for developing and managing citywide energy, sustainability, and resilience strategy (PlaNYC) and was awarded the Citizens Budget Commission Prize for Public Service Innovation. Sergej has served as Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. He was previously Director for the Global Power Group at IHS CERA and Doctoral Fellow at RAND Corporation. 

Sergej holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and B.A. in History from Stanford University, an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from UC Berkeley, and a Ph.D. in Policy Analysis from the Pardee RAND Graduate School.

Tim Woodward
Tim Woodward

Prelude Ventures

As Managing Director of Prelude Ventures, Tim builds on over 25 years of venture capital investing experience working with talented entrepreneurs who want to change the world. Previously, Tim was a Managing Director for 15 years with Nth Power where he led investments in companies involved in renewable energy, demand response, advanced materials and outsourced utility customer management. He was the lead investment partner for that firm’s successful investments in Evergreen Solar (ESLR), Comverge (COMV) and Proton Energy Systems (DESC). Prior to entering the venture capital business, Tim was involved in the launch of First Source, a company providing industrial solvent recycling services. He received his MBA with honors from The Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA and a BS in Resource Economics from UC Berkeley in 1982.  He currently serves on the board of directors for LevelTen, Encycle, MineSense, Powerhive, Voltus, LuxWall, Terabase and Pyka and he has oversight for Prelude’s investments in Element Energy, Recurrent and Solidia. 

JEN BETZ

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Jen Betz serves as Element Energy’s Chief Financial Officer. Jen is a strategic and highly regarded finance executive with vast experience scaling businesses. Prior to joining Element, Jen was Vice President of Accounting at Analog Devices (Nasdaq: ADI), a global semiconductor leader. Jen grew her corporate finance career over two decades at Maxim Integrated, a publicly traded, global corporation with gross revenues exceeding $2.4 billion. She started at the company as a financial analyst and rose to become Managing Director, Manufacturing Finance and later Corporate Controller and Vice President of Accounting. Maxim was acquired by Analog Devices in 2021.
