Rob Koch
Senior VP of Business Development
Rob is a versatile business executive who joined Element Energy in summer 2021 to lead the company’s commercialization efforts. He has significant experience with early stage energy and technology companies as a founder, operator, board member, and investor. Prior joining Element, Rob was the SVP Business Development at Nextracker where he led the positioning and commercialization of TrueCapture, an AI-based software platform that optimizes the energy output from distributed single axis trackers. This technology, which was acquired from BrightBox Technologies, a company that he co-founded and sold to Nextracker, has since been deployed in over 10 GW of utility-scale solar plants. From 2007-2010, Rob was a general partner of NGEN, a $500M early stage VC focused on sustainable cleantech companies including energy efficiency, EV’s, water treatment, carbon sequestration, and novel solar technologies. He has a degree in chemical engineering from Vanderbilt and over the years, has invested in and/or advised numerous energy companies including Solaria, Terabase, Sensehawk, PVEL, and SolarAccess, a residential solar fund.
